FAQS

What makes Artistic Illusion’s tiles different from other metal tiles?

Each one of our products is meticulously worked on by our artisans. Artistic Illusion’s metal coating, is real metal that once cured, has the characteristics of cast metal including texture, luster, and heat conductivity and are made to complement both interior and exterior enviroments. Our metal provides the look, feel, and durability of cast metal without the expense and weight. All tiles, plaques, architectural elements, and bath fixtures are done one at a time by hand. Each bath fixture is signed, making it a true work of art. They all give the appearance of being solid cast metal.

How durable is your metal?

Artistic Illusions Renaissance Kitchen & Bath© uses a patented metal coating that is 95% real metal on all tiles, plaques, architectural elements and bath fixtures. This metal is recycled metal and is not harmful to the environment. It is not a mixture of ceramic, polymers, or metal flakes. Unlike powder coating and electroplating, our metal can be applied over virtually any substrate and is much stronger than either of the other two processes. It can withstand 1500 PSI without pulling away from its substrate.

Where do you get your tiles, plaques, and architectural elements?

Nona Buskill designs all of our tiles, plaques and architectural elements. These designs are then carved out of wood, clay, and/or other various products. Molds are then made from these original designs. The cast pieces are then coated with our metal to achieve the desired effect. We also do custom designs for personal and commercial use.

What metals and finishes are available?

The metals that we use include Bronze, Brass, Copper, Nickel Silver, and Iron. We also do custom metal blending/matching upon consultation. These metals are available in a high finish, satin finish, patina finish, oil rubbed finish, and rust and wrought finishes. Other metals such as Aluminum and Stainless Steel are available upon consultation. Verdigris finishes are also available upon consultation.

Can your tiles be used outdoors?

Yes, our tiles, plaques, and architectural elements can be used indoors and outdoors. They can be used on the backsplash, behind the cook top, on the hood above the range, on cabinets, around the tub, in the shower, around the fireplace, in or around pools, around barbeque pits; the list is almost endless.

Many of your tiles have heavy reliefs. How do I install them without getting mortar or grout in the detail?

Many of our tiles and architectural elements do have deep reliefs. Make sure you use a professional, knowledgeable, and experienced tile installer. Cover all accents while installing to keep the multipurpose thinset and/or grout out of the design. Do not use any type of chemicals or acids on the tiles for clean up. Please refer to Artistic Illusions Inspection & Installation for more information.

Are you able to apply your metal coating to any bath fixtures?

Yes, we can apply our metal to most any bath fixture without appliqués. The one’s that we have appliqués for at present are the Toto Clayton toilet, pedestal sink, and bidet, and the American Standard Town Square toilet, pedestal sink, and bidet. We also will do custom work for those who want unique 1 of a kind pieces.

Can I purchase any of your products on line?

Not at this time. We sell retail to homeowners and wholesale to designers, contractors, and other businesses.
